Focus
I had the pleasure to shoot three amazing adventurers highlining - a sport similar to tight rope walking. A one inch nylon line is strung and tensioned between two points. In Highlining the line is allowed to have a small amount of slack, this allows the line to move and reduces the immense strain on the system. These guys where stationed up at hanging rock overlooking the Grose Valley within the Blue Mountains and I joined them for a couple of days. The sport was awesome to watch. the sport requires, commitment, focus and a mastery of the human emotion. Each person stepped out onto the line seemingly unaware of the void (nearly 100m) below them where every step caused the line to move and sway in response to the walker. Each person had a tether line attached which trailed behind them ready to catch them should they fall. This line was 32m in length and suspended over a 100m+ drop.
